Adjustment to Injury Practitioner
Colm is a social worker specialising in adjustment to injury counselling, with a particular focus on persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). With several years of experience in the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and rehabilitation settings, Colm has developed a deep understanding of the complexities associated with chronic health conditions, particularly within neurological and geriatric populations.
Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions, Colm supports individuals in navigating the psychological and emotional challenges following an injury. His expertise extends to helping clients manage anxiety, depression and emotional regulation difficulties, including irritability, frustration, and anger, which are common in those living with chronic conditions.
Committed to a person-centred and holistic approach, Colm empowers clients to develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional resilience, and enhance overall well-being as they adjust to life with and after injury/illness.
